Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

In this film, a little boy named Flint likes to invent things, but he is teased about all the weird things he makes. When he grows up, to prove he isn't hopeless, he makes something that would turn water into any kind of food he asks for - and it comes right out of the sky! But soon, he learns this invention isn't so great.

My favorite scenes:

I thought it was funny when the inventor, Flint, made a giant jello house fall right in the middle of a quiet prairie. This scene was so unexpected.

I also enjoyed when Flint's friend, Brent, turned into a chicken! This scene was funny because that was the last thing I expected!

My little sister, Vivi, wanted me to tell you her favorite scene: she thought it was amazing when Flint made hamburgers fall out of the sky. She said this scene was funny because everyone put their hands out and presto - hamburgers fell into their hands!

Overall, we laughed a lot while watching this film. However, I did not like that it was so fast paced. When a movie is slower paced, there is more time to see what is happening.

The moral of the story is DON"T BE GREEDY!

If you like weird, fast paced, funny, animated movies, I believe you will like this one. Parents: my dad thought it was hilarious and laughed the whole time, so maybe you'll want to watch this with your children.

Coraline

Coraline is a film about a girl that moves to a new house and then finds a secret door, opens it and finds another world. Things in this world seem wonderful until she realizes this world is full of danger, evil and fury!

I really like the director of this film, Henry Selick. He made Nightmare Before Christmas. His style is unique so his movies are fun to watch.

I love the animation in Coraline. The characters looked shiny because their hair had a bluish color. They had long, graceful fingers. The "normal" character's eyes were so wide and the ghostly characters had tiny button eyes that looked empty and blank. This made them scary!

My four favorite scenes are:

1. The part where Coraline thinks she is talking to her mom. When her "mom" turns around, she has buttons in place of her eyes! This is not her mom. It is her "Other Mother." I liked this because it was unexpected.

2. Coraline had a helpful presence in the movie. I liked the scene where she first met this friend - a sleek black cat. This cat gave Coraline hints about how to save her real mother and father from the Other Mother. I love cats, so I liked that Coraline was friends with a cat.

3. The black rats were really scary antagonists in the movie. They worked to stop Coraline from getting her mother and father back. In one scene, they were juggling some pearls that Coraline needed to save other people who had buttons sewn in place of their eyes, and who were prisoners of the Other Mother. Coraline had to figure out how to get those pearls.

4. I especially liked the fact that Coraline found a door, unlocked it and discovered... a brick wall. Then, she tried again at night, and the brick wall had vanished and a tunnel to another world was in its place. I have a little door in my house. Maybe I have an Other Mother!

If you like creepy, odd, ghostly movies - you will love this movie!

ALICE IN WONDERLAND (2010)

The new ALICE IN WONDERLAND just came out, but it's kind of different than the original story. A lot of the same characters are here, but the things that happen to them are a little more adventurous.

My four favorite scenes are:

1) When the Red Queen put her feet on a pig and she said "I always like a warm pig". It was really funny because the pig came from out of nowhere and she just put her feet on it.

2) When Alice fell down the hole. I thought it was freaky because the hole seemed like it was never going to end.

3) When the Mad Hatter did a funny jig at the end. This scene was hilarious because it was so unexpected, and his head turned around!

4) And when the Cheshire Cat suddenly appeared. The best part about this scene was that when he appeared all you could see were his eyes, and then his body showed up!

Other Thoughts:

The actor that played The Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp) was very good. I really liked how he loved his hat so much. I also liked his fuzzy hair.

If you have chance, try to go to a theater that's showing it in 3D, because when I watched it, all of a sudden a feather floated out of the screen.

My Recommendation:

If you like fast paced, funny, fantasy adventure movies with weird characters and cool special effects, you will definitely like this one.
